Head Coach Rayna Cain
Rayna Cain began as head coach of the Vikings in 2006. Within 3 years in the 2009 season, Vikings volleyball experienced an excellent season with a 22-14 overall record and went 9-7 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play. This was the best season for Dana College Volleyball since 1993. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the GPAC tournament for the second straight season. The 2009 season was a season of firsts for the program. The Vikings defeated Briar Cliff for the first time in program history. Also, defeated a nationally-rated team, 24th rated Nebraska Wesleyan, for the first time as well as defeated Concordia University after a 15 year losing streak.
Cain was a four-time All-Northern Sun Conference First Team selection as a 6-2 middle hitter at Wayne State College from 1999-2002. She ranks second on the Wildcats’ all-time list in blocks (388), third in kills (1,517) and seventh in attacks (3,471). Cain helped the Wildcats win the NSIC regular season title in the 2001 season, going 16-2 in conference play and 24-9 overall. She is a graduate of Homer High School, where she was a three-time All Lewis and Clark Conference selection and a three-sport Academic All-State honoree.
Cain has three years of high school coaching experience at Neligh-Oakdale, guiding the Warriors to the Class C-2 State Tournament in 2004 and 2005. Her record at Neligh-Oakdale was 51-19, including marks of 21-3 and 21-4 in the past two seasons.
Cain previously served as a graduate assistant in the exercise science department at Wayne State College. She earned her masters’ degree in wellness/exercise science from Wayne State.
